Focused Films
Gina Marie began writing in 2006 and by 2008 her first feature drama, Thou Shalt Be Saved, was an
official selection for the Urban Mediamakers Film Festival (UMFF). After getting the script
analyzed, she submitted it to the 2009 Hollywood Black Film Festival (HBFF) Storyteller Competition
where it received an 81/100 grade from their Story Competition Critique. That same year she was
awarded a scholarship to the Organization of Black Screenwriters' (OBS) Telling Your Story: One
Script at a Time writers workshop - Atlanta Tour. She joined OBS in December 2009, becoming a
member of OBS' first Atlanta Writers Group.
She’s currently preparing her second feature drama, Wake Me Before I'm Dead, for submission to
select 2010 competitions. She’s developing a feature comedy, and plans to shoot a short film she
wrote titled Denied the fall of 2010. You can follow Gina Marie's journey as she chronicles her
experience at Screenwriting: The Script Adventure (http://focusedfilms.blogspot.com).
While Gina Marie’s focus is Christian/Faith-based, her stories vary in genre from Social Drama,
Fantasy, Art Film, and Comedy. She continues to hone the craft: reading text recommended by
working professionals and film students, seeking their advice and direction, attending and
volunteering at industry events, participating in writers groups and forums, and plans to invest in
formal training in the near future.
In May 2007 Gina Marie's vision for Focused Films was set in motion returning her to a passion for
creativity in film. In 2008, she established Focused Films and began seeking to partner with
individuals in Entertainment and Digital Media who share the vision.

Gina Marie is an ambitious Screenwriter/Producer whose desire is to make
Jesus Christ famous.
She was first introduced to filmmaking at age eleven when she partnered with
her classmate/neighbor to make a short horror Fatty Man in black and white
Super-8 format. They brought Gina Marie's brother on as Producer. He would
later become San Francisco Studios' Stage Manager, and offer Gina Marie an
Internship on a music video which opened the doors of opportunity.
During that time she developed a reputation with Oakland's Film Commissioner
becoming a sought after professional in the Bay Area which led to work on
several music videos featuring local and internationally known artists. She
also collaborated with other Indie filmmakers on a number of films, and
produced some projects of her own.
